Edward(Week 10 Lesson 9)

This week, we have finally finished the results and also collaborated the results of the surveys. We did not manage to meet our target of about 50~60 people but we only got about 30 people to do the survey, most being our friends. This week, we managed to start on the power point slides. We have also decided that me and Kuan Yung are going to do the presentation. I hope we can have more fruitful lessons ahead.

Progress of Project

Reminder

Here is a reminder :

We have to create a powerpoint presentation on :

  • What we've done so far
  • What we've left to do
  • Our results for the survey : In table/graph form

What we've done so far : Shu Yi and Edward will do these slides

What we've left to do : Myron will do these slides

Our results for the survey in graph/table form : Kuan Yung and Kai Xiang will do these slides.

Thanks.

Week 10 Reflection 9 ( Kuan Yung )

We have finished carrying out our survey and Kai Xiang ( Thanks ! ) has posted the results on the blog already ( Go check it out ).

Carrying out the survey : I asked my friends through Facebook, MSN and SMSes to help me do the survey.

Problems faced : Not everyone took the survey seriously and some gave nonsense-answers in the non-MCQ questions.

Its time to reflect ! :

3 Things I have learnt :

  • Teamwork skills
  • Gathering survey results
  • Carrying out surveys
2 Things I found interesting :

  • The different replies and views from people who took the survey
  • The different type of ways surveys are carried out

1 Thing I found difficult and how I overcame it :

  • Asking people to take the survey as many are reluctant to do so. Asked many people to take the survey as out of 10 people I ask, at least 5 will do so.

From the results : Our game should roughly be something like this

  • Role-playing
  • Players play against each other
  • Board game with cards
  • Game can be finished in 1 hour
  • 4-5 players maximum

I think we are slightly behind time and should do our tasks faster now so we can complete the game and concentrate on our studies. Thanks

The Survey Link

Hey guys, here's the link to the Survey!

Week 9, Lesson 8 Reflection (Kai Xiang)

In the last lesson, we expanded more on what we were going to do with the project, which we are going to call Havoc. We chose the name of Havoc because weather can cause chaos and wreck havoc on society. Rain could make people have to use transport such as cars and buses instead of walking since the rain would make them drenched. Natural disasters are more dangerous of course.

I have completed creating the survey but we have not gathered a group of people to take a survey yet. Currently, our choice of the type of game we are creating seems to be roleplaying game (the group took a vote). Hopefully, our group will finish the survey and get a clearer idea of what we are going to do by the next Grace Lesson.

Week 9 Lesson 8 (Edward)

This week, we did our project title, Havoc and we also assigned the different jobs for everybody for the mini-presentation for our teacher. We should all get started on it and we also planned to colate and do our survey by the end of this week. I hope we can look forward to more better and more fruitful lessons.

Week 9 Lesson 8 Reflections ( Kuan Yung )

This week we decided what roles we were given for the survey and the presentation that we had to do before the end of the March Holidays. Kai Xiang and Myron are coming up with the rules and going to post it on the blog here later on. We also came up a name for our project which is Havoc. As for why we called our project title Havoc, we will explain it in our presentation. As for the presentation, please look at the post I posted below. We have alot to do and hopefully can finish on time. Thanks guys.

Project Title - Havoc

Jobs for our Survey

We've come up with the questions to our surveys and Kai Xiang and Myron are carrying them out. I will collate the results and post it onto the blog and add them onto the presentation slides.

For the Presentation we have to add what we've done so far, what we've left to do and the survey results we carried out earlier. Me and Edward will do the slides on what we've done so far and Kai Xiang and Shu Yi will do the slides on what we've left to do while Myron will do the survey results

Lesson 3 Reflections (Myron)

We finally decided what we should do. Out of the wide range of choices that were given to us, we decided to make a board game. We will make a board game that promotes saving the environment, and the natural disasters around the world.

Lesson 1 Reflections (Myron)

Today was the first lesson of IPW. We had to decide on the group name, motto, roles and what we would be doing. I can't wait for the lessons in the later part of the year!!

Week 8 Lesson 7 (Myron)

During this lesson, we made improvements on our survey about the type of board games we should make. Kai Xiang will do the survey. I hope that our group will get started on making the board game soon.
