Idea for the Weather Game ( Kai Xiang )

Here's my proposal/idea for the basic layout of the weather game:

More ideas for Weather Game ( Shu Yi )

I think that we can actually input moral decisions for the game. For example, an earthquake in... China happens, the player(s) can choose to help or don't help, each with their own rewards. Then the decisions they make can impact the game. Cards might be used to determine which country gets hit by which disaster or if they get benefits. Just spit balling. :P

Idea for Weather Game ( Kuan Yung )

Hey guys, this is my idea for our project.

I'm thinking of a unique, fun and educational type of a board game.

Its a game where the players live in a different village/country/area and each different area has things like, farms, buildings, rivers and such. While living in their area, they will experience different types of weather/disasters for example, heavy rains, droughts, earthquakes and such.

After the disasters take place, the player/person living in that certain area will have to spend money to build his home, restore his farm etc.

I'll spend more time on this and come up with the rules soon. I'll also design a board using the Mac. Post your ideas too ! Maybe we can merge all of our ideas to create a completely new and unqiue game !

Ideas for Weather Game ( Edward )

Here is an idea for the weather game.

HOW TO PLAY

We could have each player become the president of
one country and receive a certain sum of money. Another player will be a "God",the person who controls the natural disaster and the place that is going to be affected, and another will be the installment seller.
When the "God" says what is the natural disaster is going to hit what country, the
presidents of the country must decide on what specific installments he must make to protect his country and people from the natural disaster. The presidents must then buy installments from the installment seller etc; Underground bunkers(For tornadoes)/Anti-Earthquake buildings(For earthquakes)/High ground homes(For tsunami). If the president did not take the necessary precautions, his people would die.

HOW TO EARN MONEY
After all the natural disasters has ended, the number of people who are left will each give the president $5. Therefore, the more people the president saves, the more money he earns after each natural disaster.

OBJECTIVE OF THE GAME
The objective of the game is to see who has the most number of people alive in their own country.

My idea for Weather Game (Myron)

For the ideas of the game, I think we should make a game based on cards and the board. It is something like the game we played yesterday. We can put the time limit too, so that the game would not be very long, like monopoly. In the start of the game, the player gets to draw out any property card. They must draw 5 of them. They also receive a sum of money. The player has to try to save the environment by answering questions. If they answer the questions wrongly, they will lose money and 1 property. If they answer the questions correctly, they will receive a sum of money. The players can use the money to rebuild their propertis. At the end of the game, the one with the most number of properties left wins the game.

Lesson 2 Reflection (Myron)

In the last lesson, we decided on what topic we should do. We will be making a board game.

Week 3 Lesson 2 Reflections ( Teng Kuan Yung )

This week, we finally decided on what topic to do : Create a Weather Game

I think this is an interesting topic and we can have many many different ideas for what kind of game it will be like. I think we're well on task and I am confident we will be able to do our project well and successfully. I will start researching on information about the weather/natural disasters for the game and bring the research materials to IPW Week 4 Lesson 3. I hope this game of ours can and will help remind others of what we need to do : Do our part to prevent Global Warming !

Thanks,

Kuan Yung

Grace Week 2 Reflections(Edward Teow)

Today, we brainstormed on our new topic and decided to go ahead and make a weather game. I think that is it a very interesting topic and it should be fun at the same time. Our purpose on making our weather game is to teach, educate and at the same time, give fun to our players. I hope that we can look forward to a wonderful and happy brainstorming session.

Lesson 2 Reflections (Teo Kai Xiang)

In this week's grace lesson, the group chose on the project title, "Make a Weather Game". It will be fun to create a weather game, coming up with rules, building the game board, creating tokens and eventually being able to try out our own creation. Each of us will come up with a idea or concept of the game we are going to make and share them next week. I am looking forward to the next grace lesson to share our ideas!

Grace week 1 Reflections (Edward Teow)

So for the first week, our group had decided of a name for the group, Inflecto, and the roles that all of us are going to play to make this project possible. We also decided to do global warming for our group theme. I hope that following lessons will help us do better and get the project done on time.

Grace Week 1 Reflections

In the first lesson of Grace, we learned more about the project we are about to do and came up with a group name, motto and roles. We decided on the theme of Global Warming although our group has not decided on what we will do with the project yet. We also finished our team page. I think that it would be better if we had a more organized way of posting our work and reflection on the group blog though. We should take turns posting the work on the site:

1 - Kuan Yung
2 - Kai Xiang
3 - Edward Teow
4 - Myron Yeo
5 - Yan Shu Yi

That way, we would share the work equally and make us more efficient! We should also appoint more roles and jobs to each of our members, to make what each of us need to do more clear. Guys, please comment below with what role you think would be most suited to you.

Brainstorming for Ideas

Hey guys , Kuan Yung here. We should start brainstorming for ideas about what we're going to do for Grace this year. We could each think of about 3-5 ideas each and have a group meeting so we can confirm what we're going to do.
