June Holidays

So hey guys ! Our SA1 is finally over , how did you guys do ?

Anyway , now that the exams are over, we can finally complete our project. We still have alot to do so we have to stay back and meet up often during the June holidays ( That shouldn't be a problem right ? )

Things to do during the JUNE HOLIDAYS 2010

1. Complete your Group Report (hard and soft copies) – 2000-3000 words.
2. Complete your product.
3. Complete your blog.
4. Complete your Powerpoint slides for your oral presentation.
5. Rehearse your presentation.
6. Create a 2 minute video (To be uploaded on your group blog via Youtube) to present your project/product/concepts.

For the GRACE Exhibition

1. Create a poster of your project on a mounting board with a cardboard stand.
2. Prepare a 1-2 minute short video clip to introduce your project on exhibition day. This will be projected on the stage screen.

By the end of Term 2, we should have completed our research, survey, product etc.

The schedule for the Term 3 is as follows:

1. Term 3 Week 1-2: Oral presentation rehearsal.
2. Term 3 Week 3-7: Oral presentation in one classroom.

Every week, 2 groups will present and the time scheduled is 15 minutes per group, inclusive of Questions and Answers. All the facilitating teachers in each class will be the panel of judges.

All members in a group must take turns to speak.

So let's work harder and faster so we can finish this project quicker ! We seriously have loads to do . Thanks .

Havoc

So this is our game :

Objective of our game : To be the last-man standing

The game is sort of like Risk.
The start of the game , the players will take turns to claim 'regions/buildings' as their own property. ( Just like players claiming countries in Risk ). After that, the players will roll dices to determine who starts first. The players will then start to 'destroy and harm' other player's regions. After player A destroys Player B's region, Player A will claim Player B's defeated region. The game will end when there is only 1 person left.

Buildings/Regions to take over (20 of them)

- Mines ( Gives you metal ) (12 health points)
- Lumber Mill ( Gives you wood ) (10 health points)
- Dam ( Gives you 'energy') (8 health points)
- Buildings/Towers ( Gives you more health points ) (25 health points)

Resources :

Metal
Wood
Energy

Weather Cards :
(You use weather cards to create devastating weather/disasters to cause damage to your opponent's regions)(The more cards you have the more devastating the damage and you can combine different elements to cause the strongest of all disasters)

Fire
Water
Earth
Wind
Water + Wind = Lightning

Technology Cards :
(Technology cards help to decrease the damage taken by another player who has attacked you)

Lightning Rod - Reduces Lighting type damage
Storm Drain - Reduces Water-type damage
Solar Panels - Reduces Fire-type damage
Shock Resistors - Reduces Earth-type damage
Windmill - Reduces Wind-type damage

Basically, this is game.
There are still tweaks to be added here and there though (:

And er, Kai Xiang will design the board .

We have to complete our game soon and we must show our game to our classmates soon , so let's get work on it and Jia Yous ! ( Even though, our SA1's are REALLY REALLY near )

Lesson 10 Kuan Yung

So last week we continued our discussion on the game. Kai Xiang has all the information on his Macbook and I will get him to post it on the blog soon. So we have to come up with the construction of our game .. really soon, even though SA1 is like, really near. But its okay, we'll just have to manage our time well. Let's continue to work hard guys , and don't give up or slack (:

Thanks

Lesson 11 Reflection (Kai Xiang)

  • What you know about your project product
  • Our project product will be a weather game that involves warfare and utilizing the effects of weather to wreak havoc on your enemy or help yourself. It would be a board game for at least 3 people and would use cards for the weather effects, game pieces for the player's "army" and dice of various kinds to be used to decide events.(such as eight-sided or twenty-sided dice)
  • What you think the direction your group should be taking.
  • I think the direction my group should be taking is to expand on the rules such as how the weather will affect buildings, what buildings do and how a person wins.
  • What you have learnt about the product.
  • I have learnt that creating a weather game is interesting because of the elements of a game, such as strategy, rules, materials etc.
  • What you would be doing to improve on the product.
  • I will research on more board games that are related to warfare to get an idea of how a "war game" should work.

Lesson 9 (Myron)

For this week's lesson, we came up with a template for the board game. We are still giving ideas and contributing to the game.

week 10 lesson 9(Myron)

wee hee! Our survey has been done! Sadly, it did not reach the amount of people we expected to do. Most of the people who took our survey were our friends or classmates.
